HELLO BLOG!!! im back from OBS!!! 3 cheers that im having good food and sleep! but 3 boos im missing bo seng and steve! i shall write my
JOURNAL FOR OBS'07!
Day 1.
i was lugging big bags down my hse and took a cab to school. i was feeling chao tired la.. like oh manz. then in school, everyone was there! cool manz! but being in pe shirt and slacks totally look like some dunno wad! haha but anw zoom we were at punggol jetty then touched down at pulau ubin liao!! feeling damn excited la. then gathered at the MPH and waited and waited.. finally grouped us together as BO SENG watch and our instructor was steven loo. haha crytalbel's line! "hi im steven loo. but u can call me steve!" yea yea.. then i thought it was like die liao.. our instructor is a male and we're not gonna haf fun manz. (hoho luckily its the opposite!) yes then went around campsite 1, had lunch!! and day 1 is super good start loh. Bo seng went for kayaking and its samn exciting! we learnt how to 'inspect' a kayak, learn the parts of it, choose your paddle, how to paddle, etc etc. then it was raining summore! so we were totally drenched.. but continued our activity anw. then wore on life vests and went into the sea!! i must say its damn freaky! i nvr dared to even enter the sea and im walking in now. haha yah then super cold but yea we are doing it all together! yup then we had capsize drill which is supper thrilling!! i was freaking out whether i wld sprain anything when i capsize!!! but luckily it was fun fun fun!! i learnt so much stuff la.. then partnered with the super light crystalbel!! haha our kayak was like drifting away from the rest!! then we dunno how to turn our kayaks!!! so we were like omg dunno where!! haha freaky la. then also learnt how to rescue capsized ppl and kayaks. it was a good day!! i was feeling so accomplished at the end of the day:) then had dinner at the cook house, reflections, etc.. and off to sleep on my wooden bed(cuz the mattresses were ants-infested).
Day 2
woke up super early! like 5am!! then brush teeth, wash face, apply mosquito repellent..tada went to the place next to MPH and flag raising ceremony starts.. did PT which was tiring!!!! haha and cheered raffles cheer which was kinda retarrd laa. yes! then went for belaying course, rock climbing all sorts. i like la!!! see people climb so high!! but sadded, time constraint then i carn climb!! haha but ohwells.. i can climb anuder day!! then later we had to pack up and set off for campsite 2!! the bagpack was SO DAMN HEAVY!!!!! like carrying some big stone or sth!! i carn even lift it up laa. blah and i wanted to die when i thought of trekking with it. but ohwells.. we are doing it all together!! and the best thing is tht my bag is filled with our watch's rice.. the rice is like heavy.. rahhhh so just hung on and trekked!!! sweat was dripping la.. i was puffing in out in out in out.. then finally reached campsite 2!!! throw off my bag and WHOA! explored campsite 2 and i was wondering how im going to sleep in the woods. it was so wet and everything. then not much lights! cuz they switched off the generator due to the rainy season.. oh manz. but yah, we went of to learn how to pitch our bashas and cook our very own food! thanks rachel and lynn for cooking! dinner was GOOD! we had maggi mee and curry chicken! yayness..then we bathed(feels so good)! yup then it was briefing with our buddy watch KURT!! i LOVE KURT I LOVE KURT!!! haha the instructors told us we wld be rowing out boats to frog island!!!!! they showed us the map and i was like RAALY!! WE ARE ROWING TO ANOTHER ISLAND!!?? LIKE ARE U SURE WE CAN?? haha i seriously nvr knew we cld do such stuff la. so yup i was one of the 4 expedition leaders then felt so freaked out whether anything wld happen on the boat. so i went to sleep, feeling so scared and also excited bout the next day! and the worst thing was i was sleeping at the outer most of the basha.. i cldnt sleep well tht night seriously!! i was worrying all day whether any wild boar or wad wld come in!! scared like shitz la. and i nvr felt tht cold b4.. so freaking cold. brr.
Day 3.
its a brand new day!! haha my watch super kiasu! we needed to gather at 730! then we woke up at 5 la!!! then in the end it was like pitch dark, cldnt do anything.. so we stoned for 1 hr and finally started to unpitch out bashas!! then washed up, packed and folded our ponchos, packed our bagpacks, life vests.. and disgusting loh.. everyone wore the wet shoes that was worn during kayaking alr. so it was like grossss to be wet. haha then gathered at the jetty and briefed about the different parts of the boat!! learnt about the ore, the locks, the stern, the 'steering wheel'! and i nvr knew we had to row backwards!! haha its SUPER FUN!!! so we stepped into our boats! feeling so super anxious to set off! yup applied sunblock, put on cap,, put on life vests,, took waterbottles, tada off we wentttt. rowed and rowed and rowed!! was like commanding the entire boat of 6 rowers "1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2" 1 was ores up, 2 was ores down. haha got so thirsty can! then cuz one of the boat was not catching up and rowing too slow, so we had to exchange people in the boats.. did lots of exchanging la.. then in the end i was at the back rowing. its FUN!!!! then the command changed to "up down up down up down" haha we went commanding this two words for 6 whole hrs!! but yea the sun was burning la. so super hot. anw it was really fun and touching to row out with friends!! so we rowed and finally saw pulau sekulu! our frog island! sang the frog song !

yay manz! had bread, biscuits and oranges for lunch and off we rowed back to pulau ubin again! haha on the way, we had to watch out for those kelongs, boats, anchors, to keep in shore.. haha i nvr will forget this wonderful experience i haf la. i love boseng and kurt!! yes then we reached our jetty again on time!! everyone was sun burnt!! like almost la.. i wasnt:) just tht nw i haf a super obvious tanned mark on my right hand. its like u can see this watch shape thts white! and the others is so tanned. rahhh now i haf a watch on my hand alwaes thts doesnt exist. it looks weird la. haha so we went up the jetty and everyone just sprayed themselves with water!! we grabbed hoses and just drenched ourselves.. cuz we cldnt bathe after anuder1 or 2 days.. haha so might as well just drench ourselves.. it felt refreshing manz... no longer stinking of salty seawater. so after tht chiong to pack up our bags and we were off trekking towards anuder campsite. i was feeling so sian of carrying my bagpack!!! cuz it was ust too heavy!!! was it like 15kg??? i think around there la! so trekked and trekked.. all the sweat was gross. but yah reached campsite 3 and it was like entering the ant hole can!! whole place was filled with ants.. then started pitching our bashas and cooking food in pure darkness. hoho how nice.. there weren't any lights out there.. and everyone was flashing their torchlights. most of us were having motion sickness cuz we were rowing out boats for 6 hrs just, and plus all the flashing of torch light, i was feeling so giddy, those type where u want to just throw up. but anw thanks to lynn and rachel again for cooking! we had maggi mee (again!) and campbell soup! good manz. so then we had a short talk with steve!! i was feeling so tired la.. then rachel lynn pauline were fuzzy wuzzy-ing, etc etc.. all those thinking drained out all my energy... i wanted to just conk out. but sadded.. i had to do sentry duty for one hr!!! so stayed up, watched out for any wild animals.. and finally i cld go into the basha and sleep. haha it was chao ji cold la.. everyone wore their shoes and slept. i was shivering in the middle of the nite. buay tahan lah.
Day 4.
haha anuder day begins!! morning was stuffing ourselves with mushrooms and sardines! cuz we wanted to clear off the canned food tht weigh a ton! yah we had to trek for hours later on and we dint want any extra weight manz.. haha thanks to han lyn for just stuffing herself with mushrooms. she must be traumatized by mushrooms. hahaha! yep! then packed up and went to trek and look for various checkpoints. i was feeling exhausted.. so so so tired... i wanted to stop but as wad i alwaes say! we are doing this altogether!! we continued la.. trekked on and on and on. oh manz. ate milo powder along the way and just went on. we finally stopped at the reservoir fo lunch and everyone was like super relived!! we cleared as much food as we can then talked loads of crap with9in bo seng and steve. haha steve seems to be interested with our sch maths tcher manz. hahaha. but anw it was fun la!!! ramyia being all crazy bout K.L! hahahaha!so we talked for one whole hr and it started to drizzle. OMG. i nearly puked while putting on the poncho. it was so stinko and sandy and JUST PURE SMELLY. the sands were like stuck to my face and into my hair!!! everyone was disgusted la.. but anyhow we trekked all the way back to our paradise, campsite 1!!!! reached campsite 1 and we dropped flat.. whoa it was tiring la! so glad we reached our dorms finally!! so yup we had to start washing our ponchos, ground sheets, basha, mess tine, life vests, iron pegs, water bottles, jerry cans, etc. hoho best manz. all of us just buck up and went to wash.. saw everyone's tired faces la.. but yea this is OBS manz. also bathed!!! like finally feeling clean again! so after all tht work we had dinner!!! finally at the cookhouse again!!! haha it was proper food!! chicked wings!!!! syrup drinks!! haha washed our plates and all. yepyep.. then had our reflection time again and steve told us story about ' i wish u enuff'.. aiya it was damn emo la.. i was tearing.. and yea i believe many of us teared too. it was the final goodbye the next day, at least to steve:( went back to dorm feeling really emo.. then we rmbr tht we haven shitted for 4 days la!!! so 12pm, the kurt ppl come and kachiao us.. (hahahha. we were supposed to sleep strictly at 11 anw) yala kurts wan us to go over and makan party. they finished all their food la!! big-eaters manz! bo seng was like so much food left! so we took food and went over. makan party began and we were like obsesed with prunes!! wanted to pangsai the next day! but fiona said i strictly only can eat 5!! awwww. hahaha. but yea after tht we went back to our dorms! had a session of girls' chat with crystalbel, kaichi and yanyu! i was feeling v tired actually.. but yea talked on.. haha now u 3 noe my stuff.. dun blurt it out ok!!! ahahha. conk.. i slept and sweet dreams. i was feeling so good to finally sleep on my wooden bed than sleeping in the basha.
Day 5.
we overslept la!! luckily kurt banged our dorr and we woke up at 530!! we had to gather at 555 at the flag raising ceremony. so chiong chiong chiong.. whoa just on time.. or slightly later:p PT was slacker.. then we went on to haf our last breakfast together as bo seng. haiz i was feeling darn lousy la.. i will miss bo seng. after tht we went back to our class to gather. i felt shitted. i was like wth la.. i wan bo seng!!! suddenly i feel so weird with 304.. i dunno why:( so had all those stn games.. i shant describe them in detail cuz i dint really enjoyed them. probaly cuz i was too tired la. yea then i became a brother of the brothers!! hahaha brothers and jie muis rite!! oh yea manz. so then had our lunch rationing.. and it was the 30sec of fame. right la.. steve dint tell us about it! so bo seng was like kanchiong-ing!! haha but yea we made it thru anw. i think we did well bo seng!!! 3 cheers!! WHEEE! haha yay
"steven loo soon chiat. we will miss you!"
so we went back to our dorms, got our bagpacks and gathered at the concourse for the last time as BO SENG. rahhh sad la. we got numbers, email adds, autographs, everything. all of us will miss steve i noe it!! then we had to get on the boat and leave pulau ubin alr.
through OBS, i really learnt so much stuff bout myself. i nvr thought i could so stuff like kayaking, trekking for so long, sleeping in bashas, etc i nvr knew how much i could bond with bo sengs tht i nvr knew at the start. i nvr knew how much these bonds meant to me.and i nvr knew how much each and every bo seng makes a difference. these 5 days haf been the best experience of my life.we have came together as BO SENG and pulled through. those litres of sweat tht we had and tears we shed will alwaes be rmbred la!!! it's all these memories with friends tht matter much much more than other nonsensical issues. seeing ourselves being so brave, telling jokes to keep ourselves awake really touched me. we nvr thought we could prepare all our basics ourselves. sleeping in the cold nights in bashas with you all has been memorable:) discussing so much of what to wear every now and then will be missed too:) rowing in the boat for 6 hrs has been an endurance too. we nvr cld haf made it so far if not for everyone's perseverance and patience with one another. im proud of bo seng and kurt!!
